"Launchin Levi LaVallee Voted Winter X Games Male Athlete of the Year"
Pro Snocrosser and FAHQ rider Levi LaVallee stepped up his game this year by entering all 3 snowmobile disciplines at the ’08 Winter X Games in Aspen; SnoCross, Speed and Style and Freestyle.
The first ever running of the new comp called “Speed and Style”, a half snocross and half freestyle was dominated by "The Leaper" earning him the Gold medal.
Levi didn’t have as much luck in the “SnoCross” event as a mediocre start followed by a wipe out left him scrambling towards the front. By the end of the grueling 25 lap main LaVallee scratched out the 6th O/A position.
On Sunday the last day of the X Games he would qualify in 3rd O/A out of the 4 who would go to the finals for “Freestyle”. Levi charged on the course like a racer and got in about 2 more tricks than everyone else due to his hard charging approach. The little kid from Longville, MN (population 180...yeah), put on a show for those from his home town who were glued to the box, and showed what he is made of by winning GOLD. He had just 2 months to learn all his freestyle moves including a backflip which is no easy feat.
LaVallee now has entered the record books at X by being one of the only 2 athletes to medal in 4 different disciplines, the other being the mega star Shaun Palmer. If you know Levi you know he is not a rockstar and deserves all he earned with dedication and hard work. The mayor of Longville also declared Jan 31st Levi LaVallee Day in town from now on....SICK!
Congratulations to Levi and the strong team behind him.
